Bio-Diesel

Mectech's fatty acid methyl ester (Biodiesel) plants provide an alternative fuel solution to combat air pollution effectively on our planet. Biodiesel offers reduced emissions, is renewable, easily biodegradable, and can be seamlessly blended with traditional fuels.

Metech's pressurized technology for biodiesel production achieves a catalyst savings of 8 kg per ton.

Biodiesel involves the addition of a methyl or ethyl group to the aliphatic chains in vegetable oils or animal fats, making them similar in properties to diesel fuel. This process consist of reacting lipids (such as vegetable oil, fatty acids, animal fat, and used cooking oil) with an alcohol (methyl or ethyl), resulting in the production of fatty acid esters.

Methodologies

The direct esterification of the free fatty acid utilizing:

  • Acid catalysts
  • Heterogeneous catalysts in the presence of methanol via Glycerolysis

Blends

Blends of biodiesel and conventional hydrocarbon-based diesel are the primary products distributed for retail use in the diesel fuel market. A commonly used method worldwide to indicate the biodiesel content in a fuel mix is through the “B” factor.

Highlights

  • The facility can produce biodiesel that meets EU (EN 14214) and BIS 15607: 2022 standards.
  • It boasts an extremely low sulphur content, contributing to the reduction of air pollution.
  • It achieves superior industry benchmarks in ash and moisture contents, total contaminations and carbon residue indicators.
